Teachers Bio

Dalia Carella is a world-renowned instructor, performer and choreographer of
Middle, Near Eastern and global fusion dance.  Having an extensive theater and performance career in the US. Canada & Europe, Ms. Carella has delved deeply in the study of ancient Middle Eastern Dance for the past 30 years which included dances from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon and
Algeria.  Her dance background also includes instruction in Spanish Dance,
Indian, African, Samba, Salsa, in addition to other Latin dance forms as well as jazz and ballet.  Dalia and her Dance Collective will be produced off-Broadway in June, 2004 for a 2 week run in the show  In Search of a Goddess, Inspirations of the Divine Enchantress - Ruth St. Denis. Dalia will dance the role of a contemporary Ruth St. Denis.

Halima Arianna al Tiye began her studies in African dance at age three, and
was later trained in several disciplines of dance from modern to ethnic,
including Dunham, Haitian, Cuban, Brazillian, Congolese, Kathak, Middle
Eastern, and Sub-Saharan dance, just to name a few.   She teaches the dance traditions of her Sub-Saharan lineage of East Africa, particularly those of her mother's village of Baidoa, Somalia.  She has studied, taught and
performed internationally in Africa, Europe and Asia for the past 10 years.
She is the director of Nubian Moon Daughters: Temple Dancers of the Nile,
her dance company.  Her meditation temple and and dance studio entitle: Het
Renenutet Sajana is due to open in June 2004.


Nyota Nayo has taught West African, Afro-Brazilian and Samba and Afro-Modern Jazz in New York City, The Carribbean, Asia and Europe.   She performs Samba-Jazz and Afro-brazilian dance with Brazooka, The Sarava Dance Troupe, Samba Novo, Cirque du Ibiza and Sao Brazil, Belly Dance with Nubian Moon Daughters and free lances with New York Theatre, Cabaret and private events in the U.S. and abroad.  Some of her past performances include Viva Brazil, Roots of Brazil, Cultural Explosion, The Girls from Ipanema, Alma Flamenco, Djoniba's African Dancers and Drummers, Almamy Sabar Dance Ensemble, Tejeda & Co's Samba Jazz Co., Feathers and Fantasy Latin-Jazz Review, Kathy Sanson Latin Jazz Dance Project, Joyce Harrigan Afro-Modern Dance Co., Eugene James Afro-Dunham Co. and Melvin Deal African Heritage Dancers and Musicians.  She has been featured on video work, concert and TV appearances with Arrested Development, Ronnie Bird, Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, Tito Puento and Farell, GQ Man of the Year Awards, Stuff Magazine and the Latin Grammys.


Cammi Vance has been a dance and yoga practitioner for over 10 years and a massage therapist for seven.  She has studied the body from the viewpoints of art and dance, fitness and strength, balance and wellness.  Cammi's training honors the individuality of all body types, seeking the prevention and
rehabilitation of dance injuries and the pleasure of dance in the body.
